Cummins (brand)turbine technologyInc. a business unit of Cummins, has added turbine remanufacturing to its operations in North Charleston, South Carolina.
The addition of turbine remanufacturing gives Cummins the flexibility to optimize the network between remanufactured and new turbocharger products and to improve the cost competitiveness of remanufactured and new turbochargers, the company said.
Remanufactured used turbochargers will meet the same specifications as new turbochargers. Each remanufactured turbine will undergo an equivalent validation process to ensure they meet the reliability and performance expectations of Cummins customers.
Remanufacturing allows the company to “use less, use better, use again” while providing an environmentally friendly alternative to turbines. According to the company, the facility can recycle approximately 70% of turbine metal by weight, thereby reducing the global impact of mining and refining these metals.
