Volvo invests in electric loader plant

The company said the investment signaled Volvo Construction Equipment's commitment to providing customers across all product lines with more sustainableprescription. Its investment strategy has enabled Volvo Construction Equipment to advance electric solutions in its manufacturing facilities.
The new building area of approximately 1,500 square meters will allow the plant to free up space within the assembly plant for the construction of electric wheel loaders. The company did not announce which models will begin the electric conversion or when, but said that production of electric wheel loaders and more conventional wheel loaders equipped with internal combustion engines will now be on the sameassembly lineOnward and onward.
“This is a clear signal of our commitment to building the world we want to live in,” site manager Mikael Liljestrand said in a statement. “It's been more than 40 years since we last invested in a new building, and what better reason to do so now than to invest in our future, our planet and the next generation? We know that this is not only important to our customers and stakeholders, who have high expectations of us, but we are also happy to be part of building our bigger future.”
Volvo Construction Equipment has launched the compact electric wheel loaders L20 Electric and L25 Electric.
Construction will begin later this year and a further announcement will be made as to when production will begin.
