Liebherr is a German-Swiss multinational equipment manufacturer headquartered in Bulle, Switzerland, with its principal production facilities and country of origin located in Germany.
Liebherr comprises over 130 companies organised into 11 divisions: Earthmoving, Mining, Mobile Cranes, Tower Cranes, Concrete Technology, Offshore Cranes, Aerospace and Transportation Systems, Machine Tools and Automation Systems,Household appliances and componentsThe company employs over 42,000 people worldwide and generated revenues of €9 billion in 2017. By 2007, it had become the world's largest crane manufacturer.
The company was founded by Hans Liebherr in 1949 in Kirchdorf an der Iller, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and remains wholly owned by the Liebherr family to this day. Hans' daughter, Isold Liebherr, and Willy Liebherr's son serve as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman respectively of Liebherr International AG, headquartered in Bulle, Switzerland. Several other family members are also actively involved in the company's management.
