A powerhouse collaboration: a one-stop platform for showcasing and exchanging insights across the logistics industry chain 

The logistics industry is undergoing profound transformation, with the provision of one-stop solutions set to become the future.Supply chainTrends towards integration, innovation and development. At LogiMAT China 2019, the International Trade Fair for Internal Logistics Solutions and Process Management, the event was held concurrently with the newly launched 2019 brand exhibition under the Asia Logistics Biennial – the Asia Smart Innovation Logistics Conference and Exhibition. The convergence of internal logistics equipment, solutions and logistics services presented end users with a veritable feast for the logistics industry. This integration of upstream and downstream exhibitions marked the first time in China that the entire logistics industry chain was showcased within a single venue.

Companies including Cognex, Crown, Damon, Geek+, Hikvision, Jungheinrich, Kardex, Knapp, Konecranes, and Vahle showcased debut products or newly tailored solutions designed to enhance supply chain management optimisation and lean supply chain strategies within emerging logistics markets.

Expert Dialogue: Focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Logistics 4.0

Moreover, intelligent manufacturing and smart logistics emerged as two of the most frequently discussed key themes at this year's exhibition. LogiMAT China's flagship forum, “Industry 4.0 Meets Made in China 2025”, provided a comprehensive perspective on advancing Industry 4.0 and Logistics 4.0 within China. This platform enables participants to engage with these developments while maintaining a global outlook. Industry experts including Professor Dr Fang Dianjun, Chief Scientist for China at the Fraunhofer Institute for Logistics in Germany; Professor Dr Johannes Fottner, Chairman of the Bavarian Association for Production and Logistics at the German Engineers“ Association; and Professor Dr Kai Furmans, Full Professor of Material Handling Technology at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, shared their insights on hot topics such as innovative processes, new technologies, artificial intelligence applications, and trends in automated logistics development. Professor Dr Fang Dianjun, representing the academic guests, shared his impressions: ”For a nation to achieve comprehensive leadership, possessing its own original technologies is essential. I believe China's logistics sector can draw inspiration from Germany's successful model. Concurrently with LogiMAT China 2019, six high-calibre, international application industry forums were held. They facilitated interaction between suppliers and industry clients, establishing a platform for exploring innovative solutions.

Twenty-nine industry experts and leading suppliers engaged in vigorous discussions on innovative technologies driving rapid sectoral advancement, including supply chain innovation and upgrading, optimised development of logistics centres, logistics visualisation technology, and warehouse empowerment.

“Despite being an open forum within the exhibition, it successfully tailored its professional and topical discussions to industry characteristics. Attendees could selectively participate in forums of specific interest with clear objectives, resulting in a high degree of alignment between forum quality and the audience profile. Zhu Jianyun, Secretary-General of the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Branch of the China Pharmaceutical Commerce Association, provided this candid assessment of the forum's proceedings on site.
