DC Water has acquired a vacuum excavator powered by B100.

Optimus Technologies has delivered the first B100-powered vehicle to DC Water (District of Columbia Water Authority).Vacuum excavatorThe municipal group has procured 12 B100-powered vehicles, whilst Optimus Technologies has retrofitted 10 existing DC Water vehicles to run on B100.

Chief Executive Colin Huwyler stated in a release: “This is heavy-duty..."dieselA perfect example of machine decarbonisation applications, for the systems currently under development.BatteryFor electric or fuel cell electric technology, this is simply not feasible.”

According to DC Water, these twelve new B100-powered vehicles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 98.3 tonnes. Switching from diesel to B100 has lowered particulate matter emissions by 97%.
