Ray Gallant, Vice President of Product Management and Productivity at Volvo Construction Equipment, stated that the ECR25 is equipped withlithium-ion batteryand an electric motor, capable of replacingdieselThe engine powers the hydraulic system. This machine'sBatteryCapable of storing sufficient electrical energy to power the ECR25 for up to eight hours in the most common applications, such as utility work.
“Their power, specifications and feel are identical to diesel, but without the emissions, noise or vibration,” said Garland. “They're popular with customers because at the end of the day, they feel more comfortable and well-rested, as they're not fatigued by their surroundings.”
The control room is identical to the diesel engine control room, with only minor differences in the accommodation of electrical components.
“You must get the battery cycling, you must get it starting and restarting right from the outset,” he said. “But after that, it's instantaneous power and torque. When you engage the lever, it's like a diesel engine, accelerating fully to high revs.”
Gallant states that power and responsiveness are identical to those of conventional diesel engines. Both options also offer the same range of accessories.
“The hydraulic lines extend all the way to the tip of the boom,” he said. “You can operate the hammer, you can operate the compactor, you can operate different types of buckets... whatever you need, it can be operated just like these machines.”
The ECR25 model also features an on-boardchargerIt enables night-time charging and is compatible with conventional domestic electrical systems. Additionally, non-vehicle-mounted chargers may be utilised.Rapid chargingThe unit requires charging via a three-phase socket. Using the rapid charging option, the ECR25 can achieve an 80% charge within one hour.
